About Mandalay
Mandalay Furniture was founded in 1995 by carpenter and civil engineer Mogens Tolling.
From the very beginning, the Mandalay philosophy has been to design and manufacture furniture in accordance with the traditions of Danish carpentry design and quality at affordable prices. Mandalay is the economical quality choice.
‘Why settle for this quality and comfort? We can do better!’ was the mantra Tolling designed from. After years of bad experiences with furniture durability and quality, Tolling sat down and designed his first chair – The Mandalay.
Focus on high quality end-products is the focal point in our choice of materials, production, finish, and comfort – without compromising the light and simple design.
Today, Mandalay has designed more than 30 different designs for chairs and deck chairs; dozens of tables and benches in different shapes and sizes, colors, and materials. Not to mention numerous ‘accessories’ such as sofas, market umbrellas, cushions etc. The idea is to design high-quality, lightweight, weather resistant, and minimalistic furniture where usage is not context dependant or restricted to the whim of the weather. Mandalay’s furniture is designed for both in- and out-door use.
All our teak furniture have the same high standard. The wood is First Grade Tectona Grandis – aged 40 years, kiln dried, and guaranteed without wood knots.
Over the years, designs have evolved. Quality continuously improved and choice of materials expanded. From designing teak furniture, Tolling now incorporates diverse materials such as laminates, powder coated aluminum, granite, wicker and teak in his designs.
2008 saw the introduction of aluminum and granite table tops. Originally aimed for the younger audience, they now enjoy wide popularity among all age groups and personal interests and preferences.
